The goal of the company is to achieve “Zero accident at sites”. To enable us to achieve this, we operate a robust health, safety & environment management system in accordance with ISO:45000.
We foster a healthy & safety culture across our sites and believe that is the responsibility or everyone from senior management to our site workers to try and elevates accident from our workplace. Our HSE practice includes:
- The Safety Ascent: A continuous improvement programme to ensure that accidents are reduced employees morale and satisfaction is improved, and in turn the performance of the company is enhanced.
- A ‘Steering committee’ for safety has been constituted. This committee will create a system by which a safety standard giving adequate protection to all employees is established.
- Safety improvement teams shall be set up at each site- comprising of the project manager, safety engineer, a senior foreman and a senior supervisor of the project. The team will hold a monthly meeting to refine procedures, discuss the accident and near miss reports, and innovate to enhance safety on the site. The team will have to ensure the maintenance of records, use of personnel protection equipment, making of a safety training calendar and the use of safety aids.
- Safety aids will be provided and the safety engineers will have to ensure their proper use at the sites. These include a safety table which lists different situations and the kind of accidents that could take place and precautions to be taken in these situations. Posters for information about implementation about safety at the site are available. Safety signs to be at appropriate places. Visual barrier a red and with tape has been made which should be used wherever required as a warning. Personal protection equipment (PPE) a standardized list of this is provided to every site. Also a Safety manual (this is it !) giving details of safe working methods is provided and should be followed.
- Training for Safety awareness amongst the employees; to understand that it is to their advantage that they must co-operate in working safely and that maintaining discipline. Training for the safety implementing team on how to hold an effective meeting and how to use problem solving tools and techniques. Training for fist aid and legal handling of any problem on the site.
- Documentation of accidents and near miss reports and a bi-monthly assessment report. A safety calendar shall also be maintained at every site.
- Regular inspections and safety performance evaluations which will lead to rewards or penalties and every year a safety day and a safety week along with safety competitions will be held.
- Since our aim is to create safe work environments, we should ensure that our sub-contractors are also forced to follow similar safety standards.
